I had always wanted to write my family's history.

And not just to skim the surface of numbers and dates and ages, but to do something deeper.... something more human. Like learn what my grandparents did in the summer of 1969, or what their parents had in their suitcase when they came across the boat from Italy. Things like what made them love, and laugh, and cry, and do the things they always did.

I wanted to dive into the people.... not just the history.

So in 2023 I did it. I flipped through thousands of photographs and hundreds of newspaper clippings. I interviewed my family members - grandparents, aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles, cousins twice removed, the list goes on. I watched 5 hours of 8mm film my Great Grandma Lea took and I even read the journals of my Great Great Grandma Jean.

I collected pages upon pages of notes that mark the moments and memories of other peoples' lives. People who loved, and laughed, and cried.

People I choose never to forget.

It is the thing I am most proud of, it is a project that will never end.
