I walked every street in Santa Monica.

Every street, boulevard, avenue, and dead-end; plus the handful of drives, ways, roads, and roundabouts that are scattered across Santa Monica’s 5 zip codes.

Why? Because I wanted to. But also because in April I got sick, so I started walking around my neighborhood to stay active. Every time I stepped outside I decided to explore a new area, and slowly it grew from “let’s walk every street in my neighborhood” to “let’s walk every street around my neighborhood” to “fuck it, let’s walk every street in Santa Monica”

I've walked, ran, jogged, and hopscotched my way across the entire map, totaling 273.77 miles (the same distance it would take to drive from my house to the Las Vegas Strip). My longest walk was 15.52 miles. My shortest was 284 feet.

I’ve stopped to smell flowers, pet dogs, watch waves, gawk at a giant cow statue, and stare in awe at a fully-mosaic house; but usually I stopped at red lights to let the cars pass by.

My first walk was April 13, 2024. My last was August 12, that same year. This was such a fun project, I will miss it dearly.
